German Worlds in 2015?

"Due to the low participation in the last two Worlds, ISAF are threatening to take away the international status from the class unless the next championships meets the criteria of ISAF regulation 18.2.

We have 2 options: give up right away OR make one last attempt to keep our status with the Worlds in 2015.

My personal opinion is that, as we have around £1700 in the bank account and ISAF fees are around £200/year, we have the financial opportunity to give the class one last chance.  If we gave up the status we can donate the money to charity, but actually I think it is worth one more attempt. For 2015 we can hold the worlds in Germany: I have already booked us into the Travemünder Woche.

We (I) have 1.5 years to organize boats and people to actually go there. I would try to get as many contacts from boat owners all over the world (using the contacts that we already have and networks such as facebook to spread information). I would try to find out who is interested at all and what might keep them from coming. Then I'll work on solutions to overcome any barriers (i.e. organize charter boats, accomodation or whatever). If we manage to hold a World Championship in accordance with ISAF reglations in 2015 with I think the class has a chance to pick up again. If all efforts remain useless and we fail again, ISAF will take away our status anyway (I am not going to fake any figures for the worlds 2015!) and the international class is dead.

Why am I fighting? In Germany, it is not going too bad around the L2 these days. But I fear that this will stop if there are no more championships. Because this is something that really motivates some of these guys and is also an important argument to get new people into the class. If we have no longer an international status I can probably close the German class, too.....

If I try to keep the classes status I would need you to provide contact data for L2 sailors/owners - all you have. I do not request anything else from you but would of yourse be happy if anyone would like to help
